FOUR ARTISTS YOU SHOULD KNOW GOING INTO 2025Anna Shoemaker, gavn!, Joe P and Quarters of Change, including photos from their recent runs of tour.
Whether you are familiar with one of the names, none of them, or all of them, these are four artists you should be listening to as you ring in the new year.
1. Anna ShoemakerAnna Shoemaker, a talented young musician from the East Coast, is a solo artist known for her powerful vocals and deeply personal lyrics. Listening to her songs is like reading a page from her diary—intimate and vulnerable, yet universal. From desperate yearning to heartfelt confessions to moments of empowerment, Anna’s music takes listeners on an emotional and relatable journey, with a couple of laughs every now and then.
I had the chance to attend one of her recent hometown shows, where she performed alongside musician Joe P (stay tuned!). With just her voice and acoustic guitar, Anna left a lasting impact.
Anna released her debut album Everything is Fine I’m Only On Fire in early 2022, and her highly anticipated follow-up, Someone Should Stop Her, is slated for release this February. With singles like “Iced Coffee” and “Game of Thrones” already out, the new album is shaping up to be a major success. If the rest of the album holds the same energy and emotional depth as these tracks, it’s sure to be a hit.
2. gavn!gavn! is a 28-year-old musician from Seattle, Washington, who has been making music for several years. Initially starting out in the rap scene, he has since evolved, blending elements of pop, folk, and even country into his sound—depending on how you listen. With an impressive vocal range, gavn!’s music is both powerful and comforting, emotional yet soothing.
I had the chance to catch his live performance during his first headline tour, and it was clear that his connection with the audience is something special. His stage presence and raw energy make it obvious that his music resonates on a deeper level. If you haven’t yet, it’s time to dive into gavn!’s discography—you won’t regret it.
After the success of his debut album Emily Can’t Sing, Joe P released his highly anticipated follow-up, Garden State Vampire, in August 2024. This album marks a significant evolution in his artistry, showcasing his growth and unique sound. If you're in the mood to get lost in the world and introspect, Garden State Vampire is the perfect soundtrack.

4. Quarters of Change Quarters of Change, an alternative rock band from New York City, is made up of Ben Roter, Jasper Harris, Ben Acker, and Attilia Anrather. Simply put, their music just feels right. They’ve truly perfected their sound, consistently delivering tracks that hit the mark every time. Their latest album, Portraits, went above and beyond my expectations, quickly becoming one of my top albums of the year. It’s packed with infectious guitar riffs, strong vocals, and dynamic percussion that keeps you hooked from start to finish.
