CHAPPELL ROAN IS DOMINATING FESTIVALSThe star has had record breaking crowd sizes at Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, and more.

You’ve likely heard the name Chappell Roan several times recently—whether it's from her hit album "The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess," her controversial views on privacy as a public figure, or clips showcasing her record-breaking crowds at music festivals. There’s no doubt that Chappell is one of the most influential artists of the year. Her rapid ascent to fame has earned her spots on the lineups of major festivals like Coachella, Bonnaroo, Governors Ball, and Lollapalooza, where she undoubtedly drew some of the largest crowds of the summer.

One of Chappell Roan’s standout festival performances was her unforgettable Lady Liberty look at Governors Ball in New York City. She took the stage in full Lady Liberty drag, emerging from a massive half-eaten apple sculpture. This performance followed her Coachella debut, making a lasting impression on both the East and West Coasts.

Governors Ball marked a significant turning point in Chappell Roan’s career, becoming one of the most talked-about sets of the weekend. Clips of her performance flooded social media for weeks, leaving viewers amazed by her massive crowd and rapid rise to fame.

Just a week later, at Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, Chappell was initially set to perform on a smaller stage in a tent. However, shortly before the event, her set was moved to one of the main stages, where she attracted an even larger audience than some of the evening headliners. As an attendee, I witnessed the magnetic pull of her performance; the festival grounds were filled with fans draped in pink and wearing cowboy hats, a signature look inspired by her hit song "Pink Pony Club."

Before Chappell’s set, one of my favorite bands, The Beaches, opened by wishing everyone a “Happy Chappell Day.” They expressed gratitude to the audience for choosing their performance over camping out at Chappell's stage, a testament to the dedication of her fans, some of whom even slept by the barricade to secure their spots. The Beaches celebrated their performance by racing over to catch Chappell’s set.

Following Bonnaroo, I attended Lollapalooza, where, similar to Bonnaroo, Chappell’s performance was moved to a larger stage in anticipation of a massive influx of pink-clad fans. This decision proved wise, as her set became known as the largest in Lollapalooza history.

Chappell Roan is rumored to have broken records at the Austin City Limits Music Festival in October, delivering one of the most memorable sets in the festival’s history. DJ San Holo even expressed on TikTok that he was “scared his crowd would be empty” since his performance coincided with Chappell’s.
