1. 360 featuring robyn and yung lean
Kicking things off with a bang, the opening track “360 featuring robyn and yung lean” is an unexpected yet memorable collaboration, with instrumentals that stay true to the original. Robyn infuses the song with her signature confidence and sass, delivering lines like “I’m the realest ever, yeah, that's what I've been told, Killin' this shit since 1994, Got everybody in the club dancing on their own,” a nod to her 2010 hit “Dancing On My Own.” Yung Lean takes over the verses and pre-chorus, adding a smooth early 2000s vibe with lyrics like “Cause we got that supersonic, push up on it, Right in your ear, I got that supersonic, starship, comet, Right over here (Yeah), I’m in my Elvis moment, push up on it.” This track is one of my personal favorites from the remix album, sure to evoke that classic BRAT confidence with a dash of early 2000s flair.
2. Club classics featuring bb trickz
“Club classics featuring bb trickz” offers a grittier take on the original track, incorporating fresh verses from Spanish rapper BB Trickz along with lyrics from “365.” One might even mistake it for a remix of “365” without listening closely. BB Trickz refers to herself and Charli as “BB XCX,” calling them “un clásico automático,” and that’s certainly true. The track was first debuted in Ibiza, a city famous for its vibrant clubbing and electronic dance music scene—an ideal backdrop for this energetic song.
3. Sympathy is a knife featuring ariana grande
“Sympathy is a knife featuring ariana grande” takes aim at critics and the media eager to see someone’s downfall. The original track addresses how another woman’s presence fuels Charli xcx’s doubts about herself, highlighted by lyrics like “This one girl taps my insecurities.” The remix broadens this message, emphasizing the pressure of success with lines like “Cause it's a knife when you're finally on top, ‘Cause logically the next step is they wanna see you fall to the bottom.” Recently, Ariana Grande has faced criticism over her appearance, new relationship, and more. In response, claps back with lines like “It's a knife when you're so pretty, they think it must be fake.” This remix feels like a much-needed release for both Charli xcx and Ariana, reminding us that being in the spotlight makes you a target for scrutiny and attempts to bring you down.
4. I might say something stupid featuring the 1975 & jon hopkins
This track features an unexpected yet harmonious collaboration that makes perfect sense given their history. Charli xcx is engaged to George Daniel, the drummer of The 1975, who is also her longtime collaborator. Both are musical powerhouses, and together they create something truly special. The original “I Might Say Something Stupid” offers a break from the high-energy club tracks on the album, exploring Charli’s struggles with imposter syndrome and self-doubt in the music industry. The remix, “I might say something stupid featuring the 1975 & jon hopkins,” deepens this theme, presenting it in a more delicate manner with soft piano notes and breathy vocals.
5. Talk talk featuring troye sivan
In classic BRAT style, “Talk talk featuring troye sivan” stands out as one of the most memorable and high-energy tracks on the remix album, quickly going viral on TikTok just days after its release. The song dropped two days before Charli xcx and Troye Sivan kicked off their Sweat Tour with Shygirl, which has taken the music scene by storm. It captures the exhilarating vibe of a party with Charli and Troye, making you want to dance under strobe lights. With this track playing in your headphones, you could easily run a marathon in high heels.
6. Von dutch a. g. cook remix featuring addison rae
“Von dutch a.g. cook remix featuring addison rae” was the first remix track to drop, arriving back in March before the release of the BRAT album. Known as a family-friendly TikTok star, Addison Rae has quickly transformed into Los Angeles’ new it girl, and this remix proved to the world that she has what it takes. The track got everyone hyped for the album, establishing the tone of confidence and iconicity that defines BRAT. The track embodies what it means to be an it girl and live that life.
7. Everything is romantic featuring caroline polachek
“Everything is romantic featuring caroline polachek” presents a stunning reflection on the beauty of life and how easily we can lose sight of it. The original track has Charli xcx celebrating the little things—“lemons on the trees and on the ground,” “bad tattoos on leather-tanned skin,” and “sandals on the stirrups of the scooters.” The remix transforms this into a heartfelt dialogue between friends. Charli calls Caroline, expressing her struggle to disconnect from work, saying, “I'm trying to shut off my brain, I’m thinking 'bout work all the time” Caroline replies, “It’s like you’re living the dream, but you’re not living your life.” As Charli reassures herself that “everything’s still romantic, right?”, the track captures the bittersweet truth that achieving your goals doesn’t always equate to pure happiness.
8. Rewind featuring bladee
“Rewind featuring bladee” marks the second collaboration between Charli xcx and Swedish rapper Bladee. Bladee brings a captivating edge to the track, and together they explore nostalgia for their lives before fame and the pressures of the industry. The lyrics are rich with deep metaphors and double entendres, like Bladee’s line, “My mind is split up like two bills; I pay for everything myself,” and Charli’s “When I look in the mirror, I don't see no reflect,” which nods to Bladee’s earlier song “First Crush.” This track is yet another impressive combination of thought-provoking lyrics with an irresistible beat.
9. So I featuring a.g. cook
“So I,” both in its original form and A.G. Cook remix, serves as a heartfelt tribute to Charli xcx longtime friend and collaborator, SOPHIE, who passed away in 2021. In the original track, Charli expresses her complex journey through grief, reflecting on regrets in their relationship with lines like, “Wish I'd tried to pull you closer” and “Track was done, I'd make excuses, You'd say, 'Come on, stay for dinner,' I’d say, 'No, I'm fine' (Now I really wish I'd stayed).” One of the most poignant moments comes with the lines, “said, 'It's okay to cry, So I know I can cry, I can cry, so I cry,’” which inspired the song’s title.
In the remix, Charli appears to have made progress in her grieving process, stating, “Now I wanna think about all the good times.” She shares cherished memories of SOPHIE, from their first meeting to recording sessions, parties, and the emotional impact of listening to SOPHIE’s music. The entire journey of “So I” stands as a beautiful and powerful tribute, encapsulating one of the most personal stories in the album.
10. Girl, so confusing featuring lorde
If the entire album didn’t already convey enough, this 10th track truly speaks volumes. With an infectious beat, Charli xcx delves into her perspective on a fractured friendship, reflecting on complex feelings with lines like, “I don’t know if you like me, sometimes I think you might hate me, sometimes I think I might hate you, maybe you just wanna be me.” Initially, fans speculated that this song was about the New Zealand singer Lorde, given their struggles with comparison and insecurities that strained their friendship. Naturally, they addressed these issues head-on in a remix released just two weeks later. In her verse, Lorde reveals her own turmoil, admitting she was “so lost in my head” and “trapped in the hatred… I never thought for a second my voice was in your head.” Together, they created one of the year’s most powerful anthems about womanhood—a relatable narrative that resonates across various relationships.
11. Apple featuring the japanese house
“Apple” became one of the most viral tracks from the *BRAT* album, racking up nearly 1.7 million TikToks and counting. With its catchy pop groove, the song explores the metaphor of an apple falling from a tree, relating to generational trauma and family ties. The remix featuring The Japanese House adds new layers to this theme, diving into relationships and the experience of outgrowing one’s home environment. Lines like “I'm living in another country, Got another girlfriend that you never met, I ignore you when I see you calling 'cause I, Know it's something I might regret” and “Sometimes when I go home, It doesn't feel like home” resonate deeply. While the original “Apple” remains a fan favorite, the remix offers a refreshing perspective following the success of the original track.
12. B2b featuring tinashe
Need a confidence boost? Check out this track! Tinashe and Charli XCX are two major names in the industry, both with hit songs spanning over a decade. While they’ve each enjoyed successful careers, this year they’ve truly made waves with BRAT and Tinashe’s album “Quantum Baby,” featuring her standout track “Nasty.” “B2B featuring tinashe” feels like a celebration of their achievements, with lyrics referencing their discographies, like “‘Cause we made 'em 'Boom Clap,' made 'em get '2 On.'” This track is sure to make you feel sexy, excited, and confident—like you’re stepping into a club in 2014!
13. Mean girls featuring julian casablancas
In my opinion, “Mean Girls” is one of the most underrated tracks from BRAT, and the remix featuring Julian Casablancas, the lead singer of The Strokes, deserves special mention as well. Casablancas kicks off the song with a catchy first verse that transitions into a slowed-down version of Charli’s original chorus. This remix feels like a completely different track until you dig into the details. Throughout the song, the piano keys hinted at in the original version are woven in, adding a lovely continuity.
14. I think about it all the time featuring bon iver
We’ve sung the praises of the entire remix album, but trust us when we say that this. Is. The. Song. “I Think About It All the Time” captures Charli’s reflections on motherhood, her fear of time slipping away, and the uncertainties of the future. Indie band Bon Iver, known for their majestic and ethereal sound, often releases pretty gut wrenching tracks. So when fans learned that Bon Iver would collaborate with Charli XCX, anticipation was through the roof. The song explores the intensity of work and the difficulty of envisioning life beyond it—a recurring theme in BRAT. Charli shares her and her partner George Daniel’s thoughts on pausing their careers to plan their future together: “Should I stop my birth control? 'Cause my career still feels small in the existential scheme of it all.” The vulnerability in this conversation is striking; even Charli sometimes feels like her career is insignificant.
15. 365 featuring shygirl
“365” is the ultimate “party girl” song, from bumping beats to bumping drugs. The original “365” actually samples the opening track “360”, blending infectious beats with a carefree attitude. The evolution from its original version to the Shygirl remix highlights how versatile the track can be while remaining a “club classic”. British rapper Shygirl opened the iconic SWEAT your with Charli XCX and Troye Sivan, so naturally they needed a song to get the tour vibes going. This remix perfectly captures the energy needed for those live shows and. It’s all about celebrating the highs of life, making it the ultimate anthem for a night out!
16. Guess featuring billie eilish
If you’re not familiar with the BRAT remix, you’ve likely heard of “Guess featuring billie eilish” Originally featured on the album's deluxe edition, “Guess” was a track that had single potential, but it wasn’t until early August, “Guess featuring Billie Eilish” dropped and quickly became the most streamed track among all BRAT material, including the original version. Billie’s contribution sent fans into a frenzy, especially with the music video that launched on the same day. The summer of 2024 turned out to be a stellar season for both Charli and Eilish, as they each released chart-topping albums alongside this iconic collaboration.
17. Spring breakers featuring kesha
Name another it girl music icon who hasn’t collaborated with Charli XCX on the BRAT remix album… Kesha! Like Charli, Kesha ruled the radio in the early 2010s and has transformed into a multifaceted artist. Closing out the remix album with Kesha embodies the true spirit of BRAT, as the two trade verses, highlighting their success and status with confidence and a touch of sass.
